The darkness did not scare him, his only real fear was loosing someone, and that had already happened to him. Somehwere nearby and owl hooted nervously in the trees. Yorick knew it had likely detected his wolf scent. Other animals were always pesky in that manner of luck, which he had been having very little of recently. His heart leapt in success as she stopped and turned around. He wondered how she had known he was coming before he yelled. Being a wolf and a well trained one, he was not very heavy on his feet normally. Still he didn't care to figure it out, as she had stopped and that was the important thing at the moment. Standing near her, she began speaking before he could get a word out. Grey noticed that she had a talent for doing that, and he didn't mind it at all. He thought he had detected a strained look on her face, and realized that she either disliked the dark, or was being cautious of him being there, or a combination of both. She apologised once more, and a defeated look came on his face, but was quickly cast away as she gave her name. Leah... such a pretty name. Leah Walker. He liked the way it sounded in his head. A fitting name for her, he decided as if it was his place to rate peoples names. She seemed much calmer, now that he looked at her face again. A smile over came him as he introduced himself. " Sorry I forgot my manners back there, I'm Yorick Grey. A pleasure to meet you." He stuck out his good arm to shake hands politely. " I meant to speak to you in the store, but you fled to the scene. I simply had to give chase seeing as it was dark out. I also wanted to assure you that you didn't harm me. I'm er.... not so easy to injure." He figured saying all that meant that he had been able to speak before she started saying something again, that way he could hopfully relieve her of her doubts about his pain. His wolf was trying to make him inspect Leah more. It wanted to sniff her and show himself to her. Yorick had no idea why, as his wolf usually knew better then to want to show itself in front of humans. If this was another lycan surely it would have been able to scent him like the owl had previously. Smiling at her again he asked once more."It is ok that I walk you home?" _____________________

Yorick. The man introduced himself and she dwelt on the name, keeping her gaze locked on him- the plan of distraction working, but only for a bit. "The pleasure's all mine, Yorick." She chuckled politely as she shook hands with him. Nearly immediately afterwards however, she again felt uneasy. Sure, the night normally spooked her, but not to this extent. When she was out in the dark, she'd be nervous, but she'd just quickly get inside. Now her wolf was curled, ready to pounce, to defend it's self, to flee. It wasn't Yorick's presence, in fact, she felt drawn to him for protection, even with his arm swathed in bandages. Safety in numbers? That's what set her off, however, it was more than the unknown tonight that made her so wary, it was part of her knowing that there was some evil taint. Something was there, and it was hostile.

Under stressful situations, control wasn't her best aspect, and it brought her wolf right under the surface. Muscles went stiff and twitched a bit, joints becoming sensitive, popping when she moved, and her senses went into overdrive. Of course, that's when she noticed the strong bearing of wolf in the air, she scented it quite close... in fact so close, she could also smell the musky scent of male. Her eyes shifted once more to the shadows, and it clicked. She looked back up at Yorick. A lycan- and the pack-scent that clung to him, Veronti, much like herself. You couldn't blame her, however. She lived in a human village with only a few other lower ranked Veronti wolves, whom she rarely interacted with aside from when the pack was concerned, and living among humans meant she rarely let her wolf free, it's acute senses never tainting her human disguise, aside from when things got stressful and hard to overcome, then she clung to the lycan blood in her for safety and soothing.

She didn't dwell long on her revalations, eyes again sliding to the shadows at her feet, another strained smile on her mouth giving her an almost pained expression, "I wouldn't mind at all. I have a... ah, slightly irrational fear of the dark- all in good reason I suppose. It's always best to follow your instincts, and mine have always told me to stay out of the shadows- nighttime is severely included in that." She looked up at him, a bit of hope in her eyes. He was lycan, and he didn't sense anything wrong- maybe she really was just overly panicky tonight. "I live in Nerian, however, it's a good hour and a half walk- wouldn't you rather be home yourself?"

Ok so that wasn't entirely true. He had checked it, and was slowly becoming intoxicated to it. It never occured to him that she was a veronti wolf however, because he was a recent addition to their pack, and not born there initially. As a result he pretty much avoided them unless he needed to, and stopped trying to memorize the diffrent stinks of the packs. He had always lived alone away from packs, so he figured why start learning how to mingle when being diffrent had served him well thus far. Leah did have a lycan scent though, and he recognized that. Admitedly he almost didn't because he wasn't really trying to find out about her, or hadn't been until he had given chase moments earlier. After his albet lengthy intro, he was sure that she would be more then capable of walking away without feeling sorry for the man that had decided to stalk her. I have to stop thinking about it that way.. I'm not stalking im....trailing.. following...guarding... Ok im am stalking!

[/s] Leah saved him from his inner panic attack by whole heartedly accepting his little speech, that was until she ignored his hand, which he slowly lowered and removed from the line of sight smiling the whole time. He nodded to himself more then to her, as she admitted her fear of sorts. It was a good thing he was here, even if he did have a slightly inferior arm at the moment. Still he wondered what was bugging her, he could sense her unease now that she had brought it up. Yorick didn't know Leah very well and he had trouble reading her expressions so far. Taking in a big whiff of air, he couldn't scent anything, but that could just mean it was down wind from them. The hair on the back of his neck raised slightly, but he did his best to hide his anxiety for fear of worrying her. It seemed she was calming a little and he would be able to keep an eye out without causing her to panic hopfully. Since he had never seen her in the pack, or a fight for that matter, he had no idea what her skills were.


Smiling and looking genuinly cheerful that she had agreed to his proposal, he felt his chest swell. " Nerian, thats a little bit of a walk, but not too far out for me. No I don't wish to be home right now honestly." Deciding to try and play on her lycan side and see if she had noticed that he was one as well , he took a chance." My pack won't miss me much, besides im only new to them. From out of town, originally I lived in a cabin deep in the woods, but that was some time ago." Yorick had taken her agreement as a sign to start walking again. He knew where Nerian Village was, and so wasn't afraid of getting lost and looking foolish while being a supposed "guide". That would have really ruined the night for him. The beast within was stiring more, and he knew now that someone was following them, and he was preparing himself for what might turn out to be a rough fight. Why did I have to pick a fight with a bear to save the alpha male's hide... now im in such a bad position for a brawl. My wolf form should be more capable then my human one, but then again I was injured while in that form, so its likely to be tender. grrr. Either way this creep is going down if "it" thinks its getting anywhere near her living space. Thinking to fill in the time more, he spoke again. "So..... do you have a pack?"

Relief flooded her body like a tidal wave of warmth against the chill of fear that had once swept her once he mentioned that he wouldn't be missed- although something in her was keeping tiny pinpricks of cold, she found herself suppressing the wolf, and her fears. Yorick was here, so she was safe, right? Whether or not it was logical to believe that, she found herself accepting that, growing calmer, the dark no longer so pressing on her. By using the term pack, she had be assured that he was in fact a lycan, but decided not to press on the matter herself as he began to walk, and she instantly followed, moving to his side and keeping pace. Her focus wasn't detained much, and as much safer she felt, she found herself peering into the woods every now and again- lycan, human, animal? Her own paranoia? She looked at Yorick, looking for any sign of distress from him. Did he notice the strange feeling, something there? Her eyes searched up and down his body, for any trace of stress- all she got out of it was a good look at a quite handsome man, who seemed mostly at ease. She suppressed a sigh. She really was just a paranoid person, she finally decided.

He was obviously suddenly aware that she was a lycan as well, she decided, as he questioned if she was in a pack. It was almost funny- a perfectly nonchalant conversation that a human would fine odd. "Where are you from? Oh really? I have a cousin from there!" Only more of a, "So, what pack are you from? And who's the Alpha of that...?" She simply gave her head a nod, looking up at him. "Veronti- not that I spend a lot of time around them, aside from the few members who live in the village as well- aside from that, well, I stay out of Castle Veronti and the surrounding territory. I only come around when we're all summoned." She shrugged. A normal conversation, although a rare one. The wolves she did know, for whatever reason, she kept her distance from. They had little interest in her, or one another. For pack animals by nature, they seemed quite content living their own lives without worrying about the pack, and that in turn made her keep to herself- from them at least, in the village, although we was on first name basis with many of the village's human inhabitants. She inwardly pried for another topic, and she found one, something she might later contemplate as being a bad choice, although a normal one. "You said you wouldn't be missed, don't you have any family, or friends who'd worry about you?"

In truth he had never thought to make it that far. It was weird for him to not be concerned for people like her though. The type of person that was genuine and shy and said sorry over and over, he thought smiling to himself. Yorick found that he liked her alot, which was weird. Normally he didn't trust others easily, nor did he seek the company of females ever since the loss of his mate and pup. She had a way of capturing his attention, eventhough he was certain that she was most likely unaware of it herself. He hoped that his talking was calming her more, though he had no real idea as to calm her down. She was walking with a stranger afterall to her house, in the late hours of the night. Then she finally seemed to react to his last question, about a pack. Shock hit him once she spoke, because she was from his pack. He wondered if she had seen him, and had just decided not to talk to him, or worse if she knew of him and was only using him to get home safetly. Since she hadn't actted like the type and because she hadn't easily revealed herself, he decided that she was innocent in both of his far fetched schemes he had made up. Leah explained how she was not accustomed to being in the heart of there territory, and Grey honestly couldn't blame her. He himself often wondered why he had ever chosen the Veronti, then again they had captured him as a straggler and he hadn't really been given a choice in the matter. Innocently he was asked why he wouldn't be missed by his home. If family or friends were waiting for him. She didn't know how much it pained him to admit that they were gone, she couldn't afterall as he had never told her his past, they had just met. That was another thing, while he liked her, she was a newcommer in his life, and he wasn't sure he should tell her his life story. Then again he also wanted to spare her from the brutal details of there deaths. So he opted for a more non-commital answer. " My family will not miss me, they died almost a year ago. I live now with the Veronti, though I can't say it has been easy, nor can I say that I am comfortable their." He wondered how she would take his admissions. Would she see him as disloyal to the pack? Would she care? Why did he care if she cared? Yorick had no idea, he just waited patiently. Soon however the wait was over as something human in figure slowly exited the shadows of the forest. Yorick watched the intruder carefully, taking in the intruder's stance, and waiting to pounce if nessecary. _____________________

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=3][bg=615b5b] Driven by a focus not my own, fueled by bloodlust that was never asked for... _____________________ Prowling on the edges of the Nyalcom territory was a fiend that craved blood. He lived off the hunt, his inner beast practically whipped out the humand half of his mind, causing him to be ruthless. Victor was a trained assassin of his pack, and one of the very best ones ever to survive the program. His moral compass on most matters didn't points north, and he hungered for the thrill that each assignment brought him. At least part of him did. His human half, though weakened, was not uncivilized, and hated his lifestyle. He was like a living Mr. Hyde. This night however his assigment had been a little diffrent, He was to simply walk into the Veronti territory and wipe out anyone he encountered. He was to spill as much blood as possible before sunrise the next day. Also no one was to know of his being there. So far he had killed 7 humans as they were beyond easy to kill most of the time, and 2 lycans. He had now come upon a scene of two interesting victims, or targets. One was a male, and his arm was in a sling, but the scent coming from him spoke of the male's strength. The female's scent to him seemed worried and full of anxiety. He wondered if she had sensed him somehow, since the male also seemed a little guarded. Keeping hidden he listened to there conversation. It was boring, the usual and pointless, " hi my name is blah blah blah, and whats your name, oh your anme is blah blah, how nice." Victor could care less what these soon to be corpses names were, and he was really getting bored, the beast called to him and took over his hunt. He loomed out of the forest and crept along its edge, until he showed himself. Deciding to go for a more theatrical kill he didn't just rush in, instead he built the impending suspense by giving there heads time to process that he may be a threat. Victor had also decided to simply fight them in his human form, since the one had a sling on , he hardly found it fair, though he didn't have much incentive to fight fairly now did he, afterall he was out for blood. _____________________ 418: words.
