She attempted to hide her annoyance at him, but the subtle changes in her posture, the slight tense shift that an attentive onlooker might notice, was as clear as day to his keen senses. Some wolves exceeded in certain areas, they had strengths better then others. Yorick was also like that, however he had needed to survive alone, and he was very good at picking up vibes. Acting the part of a good sport, she made the first move towards actually" being civil" as humans called it, and introduced herself holding her hand out graciously waiting to hear his name and for him to reciprocate and shale hands as well. It was cute really, kind of like she expected him to be stupid and not think that she intended to try and chop him up and leave him in a ditch if she got the chance. What harm could something as simple as a handshake cause? It was like an unwritten contract to grey. Before he could act, he felt the little hairs on the back of his bare neck rise. Turning his head slightly he heard the foot falls of another walking to the lake. Belatedly he wondered if he should have stayed in wolf form and mearly scared her away, because he wasn't in the mood to fight something else off, the something eles being whatever was stalking across the ice. Instead of a bear or human hunter, he was shocked to see Gertan the packs Beta male walking towards him. Grey realized that him specifically talking to a human was not good, espeacially being found by the beta, on their territory no less. If he were in wolf form he would have layed his ears back in an attempted half asked form of submission to his higher rank. Grey was still having trouble with being the submissive underling. More then trouble actually because he was not about to conform fully to being under anyone. As soon as he had seen him though, Yorick knew that he was about to be stuck in the middle of what would almost certainatly be a very interesting conflict. Surprisingly Gertan had chosen to introduce himself to the girl instead of snarling at her. It annoyed grey that he was bypassed as if she hadn't just been speaking to him. It was hard for him to keep control, and not growl in irritation. His mood had probably darkened visibly to them, but he didn't care, this was not a good situation for him. After Geartan was done interrupting him, he stepped forward and took her hand in a gentle shake also introducing himself, not caring if he was permitted to. My name is Yorick, nice meeting you." Geartan's lack of manners was not going to make him be less courteous to Arria. He would get beaten or reprimanded later if that was how Geartan was, but he didn't care. Yorick was in good standing with the pack's alpha male Ulric, and he was sure that the male wouldn't kick him out simply because he was being nice to a girl. He smiled and added a little extra flare to the gesture before releasing her hand and standing next to Geartan. Brother, Yorick spit the word in his head. They were not blood relatives, and though the pack thought of eachother as being a huge family, he was not close enough or well liked by enough of them to ever think that they considered him apart of their brotherhood. He assumed that this was just so that Geartan wouldn't appear out of place in this situation and that he was supposed to catch on and be willingly allowing him to portray his brother. Reluctantly he went along with it, because he would definalty be punished if he ignored Geartan, of that he was certain. " As you just heard her name is Arria, brother. She is simply retrieving water from the lake." Yorick wasn't technically defending her, since she had said thats what she had been doing. Still he didn't think two of them against her was very fair, and he hoped that Arria would stow her hostility all together because he would have to go against her, and he didn't want that kind of drama at the moment. _____________________

Arria turned her head in surprise as the second person stepped up and though her hand was taken in a shake she pulled it back quickly, her right foot pulling back as well in a half step. She lifted her chin slightly, trying to keep the hostility out of her eyes, the uncertainty. Sure, he'd heard her name, easily understood but it still put her off balance.
Sky's ears laid back, sensing her master's wild emotions, and the tense energy that passed between the two males. Despite the change in the dogs calm position however she stayed at her human's feet, never moving without command.
Arria however was not so calm. The minute he'd come into view her hand has slipped inside her jacket to grab hold on the blade hilted at her hip. She stopped slightly, anger wanting her to grip it tightly but skill and logic making her fingers only lightly brush it. As the second male showed to be slightly calm in his words, if not his eyes, she carefully shifted into a less hostile stance. Still the presence of two strangers made her highly on edge. She wasn't particularly on good standing to start a fight.
"That's right... Water..." she responded, surprised at Yorick's comment. It was almost as if he were trying to stand up for her. She was allowed to be here, this wasn't private land as far as she knew... She couldn't help but wonder if she had stumbled across something she shouldn't have. Never to run but maybe she should try to leave.
She didn't hold her hand out this time, "You have good hearing," she noted, "You two don't particularly look related..." Much less fond of each other she thought to herself with the slightest smirk.
Glancing back down at Sky as the wheels in her head started turning over every detail of this meeting she clicked her tongue slightly and the Dane instantly settled down again, ears up, no longer shifty like before.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=1a1017] _____________________ The Beta was well pleased with the ridgedness he brought to both and even the mongrel that was considered of the canine species, slightly annoyed the Yorick did react in such. The once-rouge obviously still had issues with the whole pack idea and keeping to it's loyalties, though his half attempt at showing his submissive lower rank was noted. As well his lack of stepping aside to let Geartan introduce himself, the other wolf's annoyance and irritation were felt thick in the space between the two brutes. The black masked wolf would ensure he remembered every bit of it and to bring it up at a later appropriate time that was out of human prying eyes. Such creatures need not know the workings of werewolves. Either way keeping himself in check and to ensure this was not fully an awkward situation. Geartan knew to act civil as to not draw attention from humans, he'd had many years of practice to keep his hackles down in the presence of them. Still holding grudge against them for his own past he would not forget, but for the sake of their species he knew better. His hazel optics traced every detail of the woman and dog's movements, their tenseness to forceful relaxness, hand in pocket as a reaction and the dog settling at the sound of click. How could any animal bring themselves so low to obey such weak creatures, Geartan would never know. Nodding reassuringly to the fact she was only there to get water noted by both, then a smirk and chuckle rolled across his features. Raising a palm and patting it on Yorick's shoulder, knowing it'd push the fellow wolf's discomfort even more, "Hahaha, we are more related than you know. Plus blood means nothing. " He looked at Yorick in the face, only between the two if their eyes met and locked for a moment a hidden growl would be seen, but playing it off with a toying laugh to the girl. With a laugh and short sharp squeeze to the man's shoulder he dropped his hand back to his own side. "Well Arria, I do say it's one of the purest sources of water to choose from. I do suggest be careful though, so far from the safety of villages in the woods can be dangerous. I'd hate to see harm come to the pair of you. " There was care, worry and warning within his voice as a glance from his eyes shown he ment the surrounding woods. Keeping a gentle eased smile on his fascade, sweeping the sides of his cloak out of his way and slipping his hands in his pockets. "Hmm perhaps I should let Yorick take the honors of ensuring you make it to a safe path to the nearest village before nightfall. Let you two continue without the annoyance of my interuption." Gear looked between the two with wonder if they'd agree to such, and to end his meaningless put on babblings. To ones that knew him better would know he was just putting on a show, but those that didn't couldn't tell truth from lie that slithered from his lips. _____________________ 612:words.

They were not blood related, though he did have to mentally acknowledge that they were connected to a curse that was stronger then blood. Still he didn't like being connected to him in any way. It was hard for him to stop a growl from escaping his throat, and his chest puffed out in an effort to keep it contained. Geartan had volunteered him to escourt the human. Yorick wanted nothing better than to leave them both in the middle of the ice lake and walk away, but he felt some what responsible for the human. He didn't feel like abandoning her to have to put up with Geartan, but Grey could barely shrug off the irritation of the Beta for much longer. As far as the pack was concerned Yorick was a lower ranking wolf, but something they forget was that he once controlled his own fate, and lived and ruled his own family. Technically that meant he had a surpressed alpha or beta gene in his arsenal, that he chose to ignore. He didn't wish to become involved in their society any more then he needed to. His wolf wanted to rise to the surface and fight or detatch itself from the situation. The ancient fight or flight refrence was more then prickling his skin at the moment. Looking Geartan in the eye, he spoke. " I will take her where ever she wants to go, I don't know from where she came. Why should her safety concern me anyway, she obvisouly knows what she is doing. She brought a knife to break the ice and everything." He was meaning to cover his ass, and to make fun of the girl in an effort to save himself from a more annoying confrontation with Geartan later. _____________________

A sneer of distaste colored Arria's face as the words passed. Thought she could somehow sense false care in the second man's voice, he still had manner enough to speak to her, not at or about her as the first one, Yorick did as he replied. She could someone tell they were both mocking her, and it annoyed her beyond words. As Yorick responded to the second man she easily noticed the tense little bubble of conflict that lingered between the two. The first man wasn't as good at controlling his emotions and his eyes as the other was.

Arria's eyes narrowed slightly, "If I might cut in, boys, I can very easily handle myself. I've no need of an escort. I know how I got here and I can just as easily get back out." She dipped her head slightly, "Thank you for your concern Geartan," she added, her thanks deliberately thrown only to the second male, annoyed by Yorick's mocking words.

The girl shifted her strapped canteen onto her shoulder and pulled her coat tightly around her torso. With the movement Sky rose up from her seated position, standing close by her master's thighs. Her eyes shifted from man to man, still alert and judging as she awaited her human's next move or signal.

"This was pleasant," she lied smoothly, "but I must take my leave." She passed her own glance doubtingly over the two, I'm sure you two need some time alone she thought with the slightest taste of a smirk. She shifted again, ready to step around them, but still not quite making leave.

And it was well known all pack members were to treat him as if alpha when the true alpha wasn't around. It was just the simple nature of the ranks in a wolf pack, the only one the beta would bow down to would be Ulric the alpha of Veronti. Otherwise he had the power to punish or apraise whomever he please for a job well-done or job being neglected. The paler brute seemed to completely attempt to avoid a covered order, Geartan wouldn't stand for a human wondering aimlessly around their forest. Small pocket knife or not the place was dangerous for humans of any sort. "Knife or not Yorick, that is only a simple peice of pointed flat metal. I insist you keep her company where-ever she may go. " Drawing his hands from his pockets to cross his chest with a rather serious look this time. At the moment he didn't want to deal with the once-rogue wolf, but if he had to he would, hopefully the lower ranking male would get the hint this was actually an order said in a nice manner. Geartan could easily pick up and tell the red-headed human could see the tense air between the two brutes, which wasn't a good thing, as there was no trusting the human would fully leave the area. As if they started something after she left the scene their growls of a tiff would easily bring her back in curiousity. " Arria, please be safe as well as your.... dog. You never know what lerks in the woods these days." Giving a rather harsh look at Yorick again, more of a warning that he better tuck his pride and listen. There was a very intense mental growl to be heard between just the two lupines, Geartan would confront him later. Giving a smile and nod to Arria one last time before turning on heals and readressing his cloak to as if block his body from the elements. Returning from the same direction he'd approached, no matter the situation he would double-back after a time to keep track and eye on this loner human and her mongrel.
