Glancing about the first thing one may think of these plains is that its a nice quiet place where only the strong herds dare to roam out in the open. However this was not the case, predator as well as prey loomed in the tall grass just waiting for a chance to snag a quick kill. Gethro was one such individual this afternoon, he had been given the task of hunting for the pack again, though he was not happy about it. He was used to his usual task of patrolling the territory solo, and though him hunting wasn't a problem, it was an inconvienence to his daily route routine. He trusted no one else in the pack with his route on the patrol, and took his work very seriously. Gethro was one of the more formidable wolves in the pack,he would have been more then strong enough for a higher ranking position, however he couldn't care anyless for it.
He had met there new alpha female Emma recently, and had even been her tour guide. She seemed dedicated and capable, and that was enough for him. The weather was fairly morbid, on account of the rain pouring down in thick sheets. It made tracking harder, and in the plains specifically, made it dangerous to travel. Mud was everywhere mixed with the grass, making the ground soft and squishy. Just walking at a normal pace was causing his paws to sink into the earth. With every step his fur became soggier, with every breath the rain added a chill to his coat. The one solace in an evening like this, was that for now the wind was subsided. That would better help to keep him from getting sick. Even colds were deadly in these times, with the extreame lack of medicine and medical profession.
His golden and tan fur hung heavily on his body as he crouched lower to the ground. Beady eager looking brown eyes scanned the plains looking for prey. For all the trouble the weather was providing there was no way he was retuning home empty handed. Supposedly he was to be accompanined on this hunt as well, though by who, he had no idea. Gethro soon felt his thought wondering to Emma, and what she was doing on a day like this. Something had him picturing the pack elders surrounding her with history scrolls or some such nonsense as that. The one thing he was going to do upon returning to the castle was sit in front of a roaring fire to take the chill away. Hearing something shift in the distance, he raised his ears and prepared to lash out should it be prey or predator._____________________
