Ezekiel Prophet stood among the surrounding forest and listened to the sounds that rang out all around. He could hear the call of birds high up in the canopy and the rustling of the underbrush as tiny little rodents scurried underfoot. He could hear the faint trickling of the creek the passed by not to far from where he was standing as the water traveled down stream over the rocks and debris that was strewn along the creek bed. Not that it was littered with garbage, more along the lines of branches. He breathed deep and could smell so many different scent swirling through the air around him. Instead of trying to pick out one from another he allowed them to over come his senses and closed his eyes. He let himself get lost in the wilderness around him and he just stood there.
He had no idea how long he had been standing there before he opened his eyes again. He blinked back tears at the brightness of the sun spilling through the sea of green foliage that was spread out above him. It was a beautiful day if you were into that sort of thing. Ezekiel would never let anyone know it but he was into that sort of thing. Nature was one of his only childhood companions and it was certainly a part of who he was. The forest would always be his first true home. He smiled at that and slipped his sunglasses on to help cut back on the bright light filtering through the tree tops. He slipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a small wooden box. Inside of it was a small thin, golden chain. He didn't know where he got it, he only knew that when the others found him all those years ago he had had it with him. He didn't wear it around his neck because he still didn't know what it meant to him. So he kept it safe and sound in this small little box. He let the thin metal slide through his fingers as he searched for the pendant that was hanging on it. A small cross with a single tiny dark black stone set in the center. He slipped the chain back into the box and put it back in his pocket.
"Now if only there were someone around here with whom I could get into some trouble with." Ezekiel said out loud, yet to himself. He couldn't be sure if anyone was around at all, though he supposed that was his own fault. What with the losing himself in Nature and then fussing with his chain, but he didn't care. He doubted that there was anything in these woods that he couldn't handle, beast or otherwise...
