It was a wonderful day, truly, it was. Sina's eyes were glazed, however, the amber shifting from one lush plant to the next as she padded along, still in shock. The decision couldn't have been further from surprising, of course, and she'd had a month to get over her alpha's death, but still. It was a strange feeling, the weight of an entire pack.
While she knew the area, had grown up within Orien and had never had reason to feel lost within it, today, she had no sense of direction, following her paws whereever they chose to take her... Until the sensation of falling, followed by a large splash and a cold, wet feeling, jolted her out of her thoughts. Yowling in indignation, she pushed her head above-water, glaring at the bank that she must have just fallen down from.
Setting herself to paddling towards the bank of the creek, where there was a shallow slope leading to the water, Sina pushed herself out before she shook herself, growling at her own stupidity. Nothing serious had happened, but it might have. It was time to stop acting like a stupid pup!

The creek was a place of peace for some, but Gethro looked at it for what it was, an unclaimed spot of land that he would love to catch a wolf from another pack on. This was where he took his experience and honed his techniques. Swiftly his sturdy form moved through the woods, his natural instincts taking over, scanning the area with care and intent. He picked out the many scents of the animals nearby, and he could tell what emotions each were displaying. None of them seemed particularly interested in anything they were doing, so he tried to lower his guard a little bit. Obviously no other predators were near, at least not within his scent range.
The pack was on edge. Many had no idea what to make of her, and some still hadn't actually seen her happy about her new position. When he had heard who the new alpha was in Havren pack he had been a little surprised but not unpleasantly. So far she seemed competent enough for the position she had been put in, though it wasn't as if he was testing her. Far from it, Gethro had no plans for leadership in the pack, not that he was any less formidable. He was always up for a good brawl, or a jabbing of words, but the added responsibility was not as alluring to him. Sure he cared for the others in the pack, but he didn't want to be the one they pointed fingers at if something went wrong.
The sound of rustling leaves had his head swaying in the direction of the water. Something had disturbed the tranquility, and gained his attention. With measured steps he made his way over and peered out spotting the very person he had been thinking of earlier. Sina looked like she had taken a dip, he wondered if it was intentional. Gethro shuffled his shoulders and back feeling out his pelt, not really finding it to be humid enough to be uncomfortable. Then it hit him that he was technically spying on her, unless she had caught his scent. Looking at her, she seemed annoyed to him, so maybe she was stressed. Politeness warranted him to trot on over to her and speak with her, he doubted it could hurt, and it was the dutiful thing to do. "Not a bad day for a swim I suppose. What might I ask are you doing out here when there are plenty of swimming holes at home?" In truth he was being a little intrusive, and he really had no business either being in Guilden, but maybe she would indulge him. Perhaps picking her brain, or ruffling her fur would prove more entertaining then a good scuffle.

Wrapped in her own anger at her inattention, Sina found herself falling into it once more, her ears only catching the sound of an approaching wolf seconds before he spoke, looking up into the face of one of her pack members.
A huff of frustration came from her nares as she heard his words, and she shook her head, although her face remained passive, “I was trying to come to terms with things without being disturbed.” She cast a glare at the water, turning her head for a brief moment before looking back at Gethro, “Until I realized that I had better pay more attention to my path, or next time, my fall might not be broken by water.” Had she wanted to go swimming, she would have gone within her own territory...
But that would have defeated the purpose of being... Well, alone. To sort out her own thoughts. But that was no more. After giving her thick pelt a last shake, she settled back on her haunches, “I could ask you the same thing, Gethro. What do you seek outside of the Havren territory?” Her amber eyes leveled at the other wolf, her ears pointed forward in curiosity as to his answer, “You did just point out that it would be just as rewarding to swim within the boundaries.”

Gethro it seemed had stumbled upon her at an inopportune moment. She looked a little flustered, and he was having second thoughts about speaking up. Perhaps remaining silent and slinking through the trees would have been a better alternative. Oh... so maybe next time I will just avoid her. Females can be so finicky. What is there to come to terms with anyway?
Of course Gethro remembered the old alphess, but he wasn't overly fond of her. He protected his station, and served well, that had been his concern, not her feelings. It had worked well, and other then in business his alphess had never talked ot him much previously. Sina appeared to be different, which any fool should know she would be. She was after all a completely different wolf, with ideals from a path far from the other alpha's life.
Twitching his ear to let her know he was paying attention even though he was thinking and albeit rudely staring off into space, he tried to sort out his thoughts before speaking. Truly he shouldn't have been anywhere near the creek, but he had been given a day to recuperate. Never before did he have to account for his whereabouts, but things changed it seemed. His chiseled voice issued forth finally." I was just wandering around, honestly I didn't have many ambitions for the day. Just needed to get away for a bit, figured this place was as good as any."
Well there, that was saying something at least. Gethro wasn't sure about her much either, technically he had spent more time with her since she had been a Beta. That had never meant they were well known and friends though. Politics and such aside, he liked to judge someone by there actions, and he had never had a reason to pay attention to her before. It was rather ironic since now she was giving him orders, and he would be listening to her all the time. Authoritative figures were alright in his book, so long as they did the job right and well. Clumsy or not, she should have been more careful. Of course he would probably get in trouble for saying as much. Flattening his ears in a how of displeasure, he walked a bit closer to the edge of the bank, so that he could better inspect her. " Are you ok?" He was mainly asking if she was hurt, but one could interpret it to mean he wanted her to speak her feelings. Gethro hadn't thought of that before asking, but he was minorly concerned. An alpha should be sturdier then that, but she was new to it still. The water grazed his paws, as he looked at her assessing the might of the new alpha.

Sina huffed as she heard his answer. It was relatively obvious that he wasn't pleased about being questioned, but somehow, Sina's anger boiled over. However, prior to speaking, she measured her words, finally speaking in her normal, noncommittal tone, “If you didn't wish to be questioned, then why would you ask the same question of others?” Honestly, she was so done with the day, and wanted nothing better to disappear somewhere where she wouldn't be disturbed... Of course, that had been her hope for this place as well, but that had turned out brilliantly, hadn't it.
Feeling his eyes on her, Sina met them evenly, her amber irises focused on the male's, waiting for his reaction to the implied tension. Of course, she knew the wolf before her, and yet, she couldn't stand his actions, which were simply rubbing her the wrong way on a day that had already buried her in stress. Asked about her condition, Sina snapped, “Fine.”
She rose as the wolf stepped forward, towards the river between them, and tried to consider a way to pull herself out of the situation, but that would be difficult. She was alphess now, and she would have to deal with this upstart of a wolf whom she could feel judging her for her inattention. “Run along now.” The words were intentionally demeaning, although she doubted the male would make something out of it, “I shall see you in more proper circumstances.”

Now with her response the last thing she probably wanted from him was a smile, but he couldn't help the humorous look that graced his face. It would annoy her, or that he had no doubt, but it was funny to him. Why had he asked indeed, well curiosity of course, and because he liked to keep tabs on others out of habit. " Good point, that hadn't occurred to me. Some days it's just better to keep your destination to yourself, but I feel more and more like I have disturbed you." The fact that she was lecturing him and turning what he was saying back on him was evidence to that.
Admittedly he was put off when she snapped at him. Guess I deserved that. What irked him was when she dismissed him. Frankly she had every right to, since she was leader and all, but he didn't like it this time. Handling his temper was not his strongest suit, but he would be stupid to challenge an alpha, especially when he didn't want anything to do with the position of power. Whipping the smile off his face, he realized she was not going to be friendly, and so adopted a more stern and brash stance. Gone was his humor, here was the soldier. Of course he was offended, but he wouldn't show her any ire, he was better then that. " Since your unharmed I will take my leave then. Perhaps I will find some way to be more useful with my time." It might have come out a bit more irritated in the end, but it was better then snarling or snapping. Maybe up the creek he could fish or something, or maybe he would just nap in a tree. He turned to leave, he wasn't the right type to talk to her anyway, and the circumstances weren't right. Most likely she wouldn't pick up that she had offended him. Those high up types never recognized that usually anyway in his experience.
