A House Made of Cards

Dominic strolled casually through the secret corridors under the castle, his arms stretched out to each side as he dragged his hands across the smooth stone walls. He chose to wear baggy khaki short and an extremely loose fitting tank top that seemed three sizes too big. He didn't wear any shoes either, a common practice when in his own land. Dominic didn't particularly care what most thought of his appearance and often times just dressed comfortably. He arrived at the exit to the surface and easily pulled the large door open, stepping forth into the radiant sunlight. He walked around the grounds for a time, observing the surrounding nature as he pondered things. He finally came to his destination, a bar secured vetween to large slabs of stone. He reached up and began doing variations of pullups as he soaked in the sun. He had set a furious pace and before long sweat was dripping from every pore. He did one last pullup, and with the grace of a gymnast pulled himself forward into a backflip as he landed in stride.

Dominic didn't have the drive necessary to meet his standards today, so he decided to postpone his workout. He slowly climbed the broken stones of the castle until he reached a vantage point that suited him. Despite the rundown look of the castle, Dom only saw beauty. In the most minute details and imperfections, he saw the only home he had ever really known. He took in the scenery for a while until he heard movement coming in his direction. He wasn't sure who it was that was approaching, but he assumed they would announce themselves if they wanted to be noticed.

Carefully prancing amongst the corridors, Siren stealthily made her way around the underground castle. She was bored, and trying like it was her main mission in life to stir up some sort of excitement. Sitting in the castle all day, even in all its splendor, made her skin crawl. It wasn't that she minded staying put in one place for long periods of time, its just she preferred not to. Hidden in the shadows of the poorly lit passages, as the candel light was famous for providing, were her main playground. Crouching here and there, and occasionally tripping up a foolish grunt in the pack for being non-observent. It usually was the grunts, as most of the older or higher up members knew of her habbits and there odds random quirkyness.

Picking up the scent of the Alpha, her interest now peaked, she tried to determine his location in the castle. Soon his scent became more salty, she guessed from sweat perhaps, and she knew where to find him. Sure enough he was doing pull -ups on a bar secured to the walls. Our fearless leader, buffing out the last of his non-existent flab.

Her dazzeling blue eyes watched as he worked, not quite knowing if she had been sniffed out by him, or if she still remained unknown. It seemed the latter as soon he had jumped down and made his way outside. Sensing that he could provide a means of entertainment more valuable then tripping victims in the halls, she followed him out silently. At least it would have been silent had she not stubbed her toes on a big pointy lump in the middle of the passage.Ouch."

She knew no matter how low she had whimpered aloud her pain, he would have undoubtedly heard her. Stepping outside, she smiled his way. Her clothing was the same blue blouse and black pants that she liked to wear the most, the white cherry blossums on the blouse were her favorties. As usual her right eye was covered by a large section og her hair, though she was glad for it. It kept her emotions in check so long as she could hide half her face. Seeking to help announce her presence she spoke."Getting some air? I don't blame you , its so dreadfully boring in there."

The woman stood below him on the ground as she spoke, commenting on her boredom. He completely understood this sentiment, and although he was surrounded by his pack it was easy to feel alone. He leaned back and rested his head against the decaying structurr behind him, exhaling as he responded to her statement. "You don't know the half of it." He stood to his feet and placed his hands into the pockets of his shorts, leaping from rock to rock and then finally landing on the ground a short distance from Siren. He looked towards her as a devious smile formed on his face, the wheels turning in his head as to how to cure the boredom. "So what are we gonna do about it?" He had considered many things such as hunting or toying with some idiots in the nearby towns but he couldn't settle on anything. He decided to let Siren come up with something to do. _____________________ 0:words.

While scheming was fun, it was even more so when you had someone to compare ideas with. Had she been born into another pack, then she most likely would have had to refrain from doing whatever she wished. Here in Nyalcom, she was free to cause the havoc she saw fit to dish out. Since her birth, the surrounding society had labeled her a problem, all because of her pack's history. Not that she was complaining, no she considered it a badge of honor to be in such a feared and reveared pack.

Never playing by the rules was fun. It lead to a rather odd ranking system among her pack. Wolf with the biggest backbone and drive to get up in the world, usually did. Resect was gained through deeds not faulty promises from leaders that sat on there asses. She was proud to be a warrior to Dominic's reign. One thing with Siren, was she never considered herself and underling. The only one she had trouble telling to bugger off was the alpha male. Though she was far from helpless, he could snap her neck easily if given a good reason to, which she intended to try and not give him. Her nature often proving that to be a hard task in her eyes, though when he looked back at her, he did seem cheerful.

She marveled at his bulk, and the way he carried himself as he strode with guile from the top of the degraded walls down to stand before her. He towered over her of course, though she was used to it since most people she met did. Long ago she had promised herself never to cower at another unless in dire need of course, thus she kept her chin up and eye contact with him. It wasn't meant in the sign of disrespect in wolf culture that it normally meant, just her own moral standards kicking her in the ass again. The shifting of her blouse to lay more over her waist, was the only sign of tension she displayed in his preasence.

At the very least she was glad that he was bored too. It certainly explained his workout before. It was odd that he was letting her decide there activity. Not that she hadn't gone hunting with him before or anything. He was the alpha, so he spent time with everyone in the pack occasionally, it was part of the job description, but this was kind of diffrent. Before he would always choose the destination, and the purpose of the trip. Still silently marvelling about this opportunity, she wondered where she would "lead" him. It was funny to think of herself leading him anywhere. She was in the mood for some excitement, and it had been a while since she had done anything but boring hunting parties. Not that all of them were boring, but she needed to change it up a little. Fighting to hold back a smile of her own at his devious one, she spoke, her words icy yet smooth. " Why don't we go remind the surrounding towns that there are fearsome beasts in these hills?"

In reality it was more of a question then a statement. No one told the alpha what hr was going to do. No matter how much she felt she was not on even ground with him, he was her superior, he had much more power then she would ever get close to achieving. Not that she didn't have the skills to gain higher rank, she just had better things to do with her life. Silently she waited, and hoped that as usual he would lead the way.

He reached out and placed his oversized mitt of a hand on the females shoulder as he passed by, speaking in a calm yet excited voice. "I'm going to change and then we'll head out." Dom stepped briskly back to his quarters and pulled out a black button down and jeans. He thought it had been a long time since he mingled with the humans and never tired from displaying his dominance over them. He finished buttoning up his shirt and pulled on a black leather jacket as he left to meet Siren again. He approached her and motioned for her to follow him without saying a word. Fragile twigs and leaves snapped and crumbled under the heavy steps of the Alpha, his confidence and pride seeming to radiate outward as he was master of these forests. Dominic continued to break their trail until they came to the edge of a rather large town, stepping out from the treeline as he begins to survey the area. He stopped and turned to look at Siren for the first time on their journey, pointing to a dimly lit building with a sign over the door that read The Cauldron. "I say we go have some fun in that tavern. There is no shortage of excitement there i'm sure." _____________________ 0:words.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=4f3434] _____________________ Hiding her unease by showing a smile, a small one, the kind that really were only used to make the bearer feel better, and were meant to replace such feelings. Kerin was quite good at "fake" smiling. Her brief and non-commital suggestions were just that, not meaningful, and certainly not commanding. In fact if she had a less proud perspective on life, she would have whimpered, or even simply looked down, however her stubborness could hardly let her. It wasn't like she thought her leader was heartless, no sh had no doubt that he wanted there pack to remain as strong as possible, he just wasn't usually afraid to over discipline his followers. It was a pleasent surprise when his rather large hand, compared to her own anyway, found itself on her shoulder. It was kind of like a reassuring gesture of some kind? No she wouldn't make the mistake of thinking that, he might only have thought to.... well do something else. After claiming that her suggestion was a good one, he some what excitedly walked away to go and get changed, leaving her starring after his disappearing figure a little baffled, but ammused as well. It wasn't long before he returned, and then headed out into the woods. While her petite tiny lithe form hardly made a sound crossing over the earth, he was more like a bull charging on through. It was like he was fighting with the weeds and showing them who was boss. In seeing this, she repressed a giggle. Of course he didn't have to be silent, this was his forest, she reminded herself that they were not hunting and so such silence wasn't needed. Soon a town came into vision, and the first of the sights she noted was The Cauldron, a tavern that she often ventured to, outwitting the mindless individuals that happened to walk into it. Many nights she would beat the heck out of the men that dared come near her. It seemed Dominic also had the place in mind, as soon he pronouncing that was there destination, as if reading her mind or something. She nodded with a grin, the only show of her mischeviousness taking over her mind and forming little plots of troublesome nature. She waited for him to make an entrance, and followed after. The place had a dusky air to it, and the humans there looked weathered and hardy like brawlers, truth be told many of the bar patrons were bandits or mercenaries. _____________________ words.
