<sub>Large paws raced across the land as the large wolf ran as fast as he could. Ears were held back to prevent wind inside and make his ears ring. Muscles flexed and stretched with each shifting move of his run. Silver fur danced against the wind from his pace, waving of his muscular form. In and out he weaved between the trees, amber eyes danced around quickly taking in every detail of his surroundings. Draziar had made an entire lap around the Falls with ease. His chest heaved as he panted for air, musing over the burning in his leg muscles as he headed straight for the falls once more. The roar of water falling over rocks grew louder and louder with each step he made. Joy washed throughout his body and Draziar made a hop to the left, before he sprinted even faster counting his time as he raced for the water. All was well in the pack, for now, and so the Beta had decided to take a break and visit one of his most favorite places among the Havren territory; The Majestic Falls. His mind was free of any form of thoughts that brought a stressful headache to his head and he was relieved from the reprieve of said headaches. He didn't get them often, but when he did it always left him in a fowl mood.

As the pools of the water came into view a wolf like grin stretched over his muscle as he struggled to push himself further in speed. Always was he eager to beat his last score of how long it took him to race around the falls. With only a few minutes left of his last timing Draziar's heart pounded with anticipation. Closer he came upon the pools of the waterfall and as his paws met the soggy ground just at the edge of the water, Draziar launched himself off the ground. He soared a good distanced before he fell like a rock splashing into the water sinking deep into the pool of water. Within moments Draziar surfaced with a loud splash as he sucked in as much air as he could now in his human form. Draziar sunk back to where the water was just at his shoulders before he slowly made his way towards the waters bank. Slowly Draziar pulled himself up, water falling from his stark naked body as he pushed his way up to his feet. A happy smile stretched the corners of his lips as he stretched arms high over his head before letting his arms fall back to his sides as his shoulders relaxed. ^{"Damn...missed it by a few seconds,"} He chuckled in good humor to himself as he strolled over to a rather large boulder where cloths were neatly folded next to a white fluffy looking towel. Draziar grasped up the towel letting it unravel before he slowly dried his face, rubbing the towel down his neck and then to his chest as he gazed around idly.

The forest was alive with life. Bugs sang and birds chirped and flew around looking for any kind of grub to eat. Shaking his thoughts, Draziar moved to dry the rest of his body off before draping the towel over his sopping wet hair and picked up his pair of jeans. Pulling them on with a slight hop, Draziar left them unbuttoned as he reached right back up and began drying off his wild hair. A small breeze swept by, causing his exposed flesh to shiver at the chilly wind caressing his form. Dropping the towel onto the rock Draziar moved back towards the waters edge and looked into the clear blue water. The roar of the falls seemed to echo in his ears and as pleasant as it sounded most of the time he couldn't withstand the sound as it always made his headaches worse. Finally buttoning his pants Draziar followed the waters edge up closer to the falls. Easily he climbed over mossy rocks trying not to slip as best he could. He would have to go back for his shirt later, but for now he was going to climb to the top of the waterfall. Draziar couldn't remember the last time he took a break and just went out to enjoy the terrain and let his mind rest from thoughts over his duty to the pack.

The soft moss on his bare feet and hands was pleasant and soon he found himself lifting himself up over the ledge of the top. Standing up he brushed off his jeans before turning around and gazing down at the waterfall below. Crouching down Draziar rested his arms along his knees as he once again smiled. The joys of being a werewolf was something he could never imagine without. The humans were missing out in their meager lame lives. Tapping the side of the ledge Draziar stood up and spun on the heel of his foot and stalked towards the rushing water. The roaring was so loud up here, making it easier for Draziar to hear and as he heard the subtle signs of movement just behind him he rose to stand up and idly looked over his shoulder, narrowing his eyes at the direction he was hearing something. The wind was going the wrong way for him to be able to smell who or what it was, but eventually he would find out if it was just a stray forest animal, or if it was someone else that may be looking for him.Either way he subconsciously wished it to leave him be. It was wrong for him to think that way he knew, but he had been out here for the sole reason to have a break. With a sigh, Draziar simply waited to see what was going to happen.</sub>

Fortunately, her injuries were healing relatively well, and though her shoulder was still red and sore, she was confident that no permanent damage had been done. That morning, the woman woke up restless and cranky and wanted nothing more than to leave her small home and venture out into the forest where she belonged. It had been several weeks since she had roamed about in her canine form, and her body ached for the release that the transformation brought. She knew that shifting wasn’t the most intelligent of ideas, but Emma was feeling impulsive and cooped up and she knew that she couldn’t tolerate one more day in the house. When the young woman rolled out of bed, she took two towels from one of her dressers and headed toward the small bathroom that was connected to her bedroom. After she removed her clothing and tossed them in a pile on the tiled floor, she inspected her wounds which were still red and sore. With the tips of her fingers, she felt the skin around the gashes and noted that her flesh was slightly warm. Emma wasn’t medically savvy but she realized then that if she wasn’t careful, the wounds were going to get infected…if they weren’t infected already. With her right hand, she turned the knob in the shower to the right and waited until temperature of the liquid increased. When she was satisfied, she stepped into the shower and proceeded to cleanse herself. When she was finally through, she wrapped one of the towels around her body and stepped back into her bedroom where she attempted to fish for something to wear. Though the weather was still a bit chilly, Emma was hot and wanted to wear something light that wouldn’t restrain her. So she wound up with a pair of black sweat shorts and a bright red tee shirt. With her hair still soaking wet, she pulled it back into a loose and moderately sloppy ponytail that hung down low over her back. Her shoulder throbbed as she moved about the apartment, searching for her suede knapsack. When she finally located it in the far corner of her bedroom, she slung it over her right shoulder, slipped on a pair of worn black sandals, and headed out the door. Though the spring air was still crisp, she reveled in the cold, and savored the cool wind that brushed against her hot flesh. Emma was surprisingly energetic and for the moment, she ignored the pain in her shoulder and headed happily down the road. She had every intention of paying a visit to the falls, knowing that the beautiful water and lush green grass was just what she needed. The journey there was relatively simple. It wasn’t a terribly long distance away and she felt that she could make it there without a hitch. For the first twenty minutes of her walk, she was full of spit and vinegar and walked with a bit of a bounce in her step. She was happy to be outside and was thrilled at the prospect of finally being able to shift. Fifteen minutes later, the brunette had nearly arrived at her destination, and was walking as quickly as she could up a dirt path. She could hear the sounds of the waterfall nearby and was finally beginning to smell the fresh running water. The woman was unusually hot, and wanted nothing more than to strip down and dive headfirst into the chilly moving water. But she still had a few more steps to take, and she knew she needed to shift before the day was over. The alpha scooted a little to the left, concealing herself between a few overgrown pines. She didn’t think there was anyone nearby, but she didn’t want to take the chance either. Em dropped her knapsack onto the ground and carefully removed her shorts, tee shirt, and undergarments and stuffed them into her pack. Again, she took a glance at her shoulder and paused to wonder if she was making a grave mistake. But the woman was stubborn and determined and wasn’t about to let a few little flesh wounds get in the way of her transformation. So she focused all of her attention on her shift and within a few brief seconds, she felt the change begin to take place. Normally a shift wasn’t painful or uncomfortable. It felt a little bit odd, but it never hurt. This afternoon however, it was excruciatingly painful. The shift took longer than it usually did, and she whimpered quietly as the structure of her body altered dramatically. Fur began to sprout from her pores and her bones crackled and snapped as they took on their alternate shape. When Emma’s shift was finally complete, she laid on the grass panting wildly. For a moment she worried that she had been rendered completely immobile, but after a few more minutes passed, she regained the use of her legs. Slowly, she rose into a standing position, wincing as she put weight on her injured shoulder. The magnified sounds and smells overrode Emma’s pain however, and she stepped out hiding, basking in all of the glory that came with being a wolf. She allowed her pink tongue to escape from between her jaws and slowly she began lapping at the fur on her front legs, smoothing her unusually thick coat. After a brief period of grooming, the female finally moved toward the waterfall. When it came into her line of vision, she peered around cautiously, assuring herself that she was alone in the forest. It soon became clear that she was not in fact alone, and her nasals twitched as she caught the scent of a male lurking nearby. The female held her head high and her muscles twitched beneath her pelt as she anticipated the inevitable encounter. The alpha roamed around until she located the owner of the scent, and she positioned herself approximately eleven feet from where he stood. Though he was in his human form, his feral scent was unmistakable and she knew that he had something in common with her. She wished then, that she was in her human form. Communicating in different bodies was always a little bit difficult. Emma felt the human inside of her stir, and the female wondered how much control she really had over her shifts. Because she had not done it in some time, she expected her shifts to be slightly unstable, and she wasn’t sure if she would be able to switch easily between the two forms. But she needed to find a way to communicate with the male, and she was determined to get that accomplished. Knowing he probably wasn’t going anywhere, the alpha turned around and made her way back to the clearing where she had first changed. She stepped in between the trunks of two of the pines and eyed the knapsack that contained her clothing. She wasn’t looking forward to the pain of the shift, but she knew it needed to be done. Emma liked to know what was going on at all times. She almost always insisted upon having complete control over herself and everything around her, and couldn’t’ stand the thought of not knowing who this male was or where he belonged. The wolf closed her eyes for a moment then once again turned her attention the shift. The change was just as painful as it had been before. Her muscles tore and her flesh stretched then shrunk. The long hairs on her body fell back into her pores leaving smooth fair skin where they had been. Her long hair that had once been tied back now hung over her shoulder and back in a long brown mess. Her shoulder ached and her head was hot, but she had completed the shift as she had intended. Panting quietly on the ground, she gripped a patch of grass with one of her hands and held on. She needed a few moments to compose herself because right now, her entire world was spinning. When she felt strong enough to sit up, she pushed herself off of the ground and sat hunched over, staring at the dirt and grass below her. But Emma didn't want to wait too long before she went back to the male, and as quickly as she could, she fished through her knapsack, and clothed herself as best as she could. She looked a little worse for wear but the shift had been accomplished, and for that, she was grateful. The young woman was still a little out of sorts and had somehow managed to forget to put her sandals on her feet. So she walked out of her little hiding spot completely barefoot, and completely unaware of it. Without realizing her mistake, she waltzed back up to the male and tucked her hair nearly behind her ears. She puffed out her chest and attempted to look as intimidating as possible. But when it came right down to it, she looked like a teenager who was a little shaky and drunk and who barely hit five feet.

The muscles along his spin tensed, sending a tingling sensation throughout his body. His mind cranked and worked to figure out if someone was around to ambush him, or if he was just being a little to tense. His nose wrinkled as his mind shifted back to younger years and his nerves were set off. Though, as the birds began to chirp again Draziar relaxed and let out a heavy sigh. He lifted his arms and slid fingers through his thick hair before giving a soft laugh at himself. With a shake of his head Draziar walked back to the edge he had climbed up from and gazed down at the drop. He could easily jump it, but with moss covering the rocks it was probably not a wise decision as he could very well slip and have a nasty little accident. Though, perhaps if he aimed for the deepest part of the waterfall’s basin he could still jump down instead of climbing or finding a path that led back down. Draziar paced closer to the quickly moving water and continued pondering his options. Of course if he jumped, his pants would be wet and when jeans got wet they were very unpleasant to wear. They left your thighs raw in the most uncomfortable places. Draziar soon made up his mind and turned on heal and walked away; he was going to find a path down as climbing up was easy enough, but it was the climb down that was rather rough. Idly he rubbed at his chest, just over the tattoo that marked his breast as his thoughts danced around people not thought of in years. With a few more steps and the change of direction in the air, amber eyes lifted as a particular scent filtered his nose. Draziar came to a halt, just as a female stepped out into view. His eyes studied her, quickly observing every detail about her. Her chest was puffed out, but with her looking a little worn out didn’t help her much with her attempt at looking intimidating. His amber eyes slide down her, until he took note of her bare feet and he had to hide an amused smile. ”Emma,” He greeted, a kind smile curving the corners of his lips. It had been a few weeks, if not longer, since he last saw his Alphess. Concern gleamed in his eyes as he pondered on why she looked worse for wear. "What brings Miss Alphess out here?” It was a simple question, one only asked if Emma was interested in answering and to keep a silence from falling over them. He crossed his arms over his chests, shifting his weight over to a single leg in a more relaxed way as he mused over how much bigger he was compared to the mighty Alphess. Small, but powerful he was sure and vaguely he wondered how many people got beat up for teasing her about her size. Of course he was abnormally tall and it really could just be him seeing the size comparison between the two. Either way he knew better than to amuse himself over it. Quickly he shook his thoughts and turned his sole attention to Emma, waiting for her to respond. Again he contemplated on what was causing her unusual appearance. He was close to positive that she was most likely hurt in some way, but Draziar wasn’t sure if he should question on it as he did not want to offend her. She was a petite girl and stood at just a few inches over five feet and her weight generally hovered around one hundred and six pounds. She was a little thinner than usual because she hadn’t been feeling well and because she had been so preoccupied with her explorations around the land. She could eat a great deal of food at one time, but she hadn’t really been given a moment to do that. But she seemed to be faring relatively well despite it. After her injury of course, she was looking a little under the weather and felt and looked fatigued. Her eyelids were a little heavy, her skin was quite pale, and she wasn’t nearly as energetic as she normally was. But Emma wasn’t the type of person to mope around and feel sorry for herself. She had things to do and not much time to do them. There was no time to lounge at home, sitting in bed while waiting for her injury and her illness to subside. Which was why she had been out exploring in the first place. She was pleased to know that her shifting ability hadn’t diminished over time, and though it was a little bit painful, she was still capable of making the transformation. Her canine form tended to come in handy when she needed to get somewhere quickly, and she would have been devastated if she had lost the ability. Emma felt that the one thing she had going for her was her peculiar but wonderful shifting capability. Though the brunette would never admit it aloud, she was a little self-conscious. Emma soon realized that she was behaving like a fool with her chest puffed out and her body stiff and rigid. Puffing and tensing would not change the fact that she was both thin and short. Relaxing, she exhaled deeply and studied her beta just as he had studied her. Unlike her he looked fit and healthy. His hair was thick, and his skin was radiant. Well, it was radiant compared to hers. She was pleased to have him as her beta, and as far as she knew, he was well rounded and perfectly stable. She hoped that in time she would grow to trust him with larger and more important tasks. Trust was a large issue Emma and she had seen time and time again how often trust was betrayed. In an effort to avoid such betrayals and disappointments, she tried keep others at an emotional distance. She was a capable alpha, was a logical thinker, and was very determined. When she wanted something she went out and got it. But she also had a little bit of difficulty forming close personal relationships with other people. But for now, her lack of true socialization was the least of her concerns. She did notice that Drazier’s gaze lingered on her feet and that he was likely wondering what she was doing in the middle of the forest without any footwear. It was a logical question to be sure, but if Emma could avoid it, she wanted to evade any questions that might lead to inquiries about her injuries. They were healing after all (she thought) and she didn’t want to make a fuss about something she considered very trivial. She lifted her hands and tucked her long dark hair behind her ears and returned the beta’s smile with one of her own. Fortunately his first question was easily answered and she responded by saying, “I was getting tired of meandering around in the apartment. I can only stand so much sitting around, you know? I wanted to clock in some time as a wolf too, I need to keep up my strength and it’s much easier to work on that when I have four legs as opposed to two. What are you doing out here anyway? Just come by for a swim? She watched as he crossed his arms one over the other and took note of his size. She hadn’t spent much time with him and for that reason, she had not gotten a chance to notice the extreme difference in their heights. As unusual as it was though, she didn’t seem to be the least bit intimidated. That wasn’t to say the woman was completely without fear. She had plenty of fears, but she seldom discussed them. The alpha tried to present herself as relaxed and without pain, but every so often a sharp pierce or burning sensation took her by surprise and caused her to shift positions in discomfort. Of course moving her body around wasn’t going to make the pain more bearable, but it was a temporary distraction. The girl was genuinely interested in her beta and what he had to say. He was after all, an important member of her pack and his opinion mattered to her. It was also important that she had a good idea of who he was and what he stood for. Was he intelligent? Kind? Compassionate? Intuitive? All of those characteristics (and a few more) were very important traits for an individual to possess. And the pressing question was, did Draziar have them?

He had those kind of days, but they only came along every now and then. Draziar never really had a problem with staying home and doing absolutely nothing, but he only got to do that when Emma, or the pack, didn’t need him. Sort of like today, only he decided to get out for a rather extensive run around the falls. A question followed her answer and Draziar gave a light laugh. “Actually, I was racing myself around the falls. Just ended up leaping into the water afterwards is all,” He gave a light shrug as his amber eyes danced over to the rushing water. A thought crossed his mind suddenly, stirred by Emma’s words of how things were easier on four legs compared to two legs. Draziar never really thought about if he had a preference on which form he used. He loved running as wolf, but he also enjoyed running as a human too. Quietly he pondered on this for a moment or so before shaking it clear from his mind. There was no doubt he liked himself whether he was in human form or wolf. He had worked for years to be who he was today and he was quite content with his position in life. And no matter how many of the other males teased him about his kind ways to people, or how he always made sure to give any female the special treatment they deserved, he was never ashamed for their words meant little to him. In the end it was he who was laughing at them. Not to mention it was always fun when the brutes of men got furious at him and challenged his very rank in the pack. Amber eyes studied Emma again as curiosity over her appearance grasped his attention once more. Draziar struggled with the question that kept bubbling up in his mind. Was she hurt, or was she just tired? He didn’t know her well enough to be comfortable with stepping over that professional line into a more relaxed one and ask her. The last thing he wanted to do was offend her, but then again he didn’t want to be seen as an uncaring asshole who could care less if someone was hurt, Alphess or not. Though, Draziar was relieved to say the least when he took note of her becoming more relaxed. He never did like it when others were tense and stand offish around him; made him rather cranky and a bit nervous especially if he had done nothing wrong. Draziar shifted and took a few steps to the left where a medium sized rock jutted from the ground just at the side of the river that fed the waterfall and eased himself down to sit. At least this way he wouldn’t be towering over her like some freaky giant. Humor glinted behind his amber eyes, but nothing else displayed on his otherwise relaxed features. “So I assume everything fairs well on your end?” A single brow lifts with the inquiry about pack on goings that he may not know about. Draziar watched her shift every now and then and soon enough a frown marred his features. Any worry about causing offense to Emma was quickly erased from his thoughts as it became very clear that she was hurt in some way. “Are you hurt?” The question came in a rather rigid tone, his warm eyes hardening with displeasure at the thought. Just who, or what, caused Emma to be in pain? If she chose to answer him and it happened to be a wolf from a different pack, Draziar wasn’t sure if he could keep himself from going and hunting down said person; of course if Emma hadn’t handled it already. Idly he turned his gaze to the river as he heard a few fish splashing around in a crazed frenzy. Slowly his nose scrunched as food caught his minds focus. He hated fish, absolutely hated it, so for splashing fish to invoke a hunger smply sent Draziar’s mind up in distraught. His eating habits were rather odd for his…species. The only meat he would eat was freshly hunted deer or elk, or rare streak, ribs, and possibly hamburgers if he was in the mood for it when he was at restaurants. He wasn’t a fan of pork, but potatoes were another story. Oh how he loved them; not matter how they were made. Mashed, fried, fries, or even when they were thrown in with a roast. Though a realization sunk in that he had totally slipped off track and started thinking more on food than the female in front of him Draziar gave a few blinks before turning right back around and reset his focus on Emma acting as if his mind hadn’t wandered from such a particularly serious question. Draziar shifted, crossing his legs before resting his arms in his lap simply waiting to see if Emma would answer his inquiry or if she would ignore the question entirely. It rather perturbed Draziar to know Emma was in some sort of pain and to have not heard a thing about it chipped his mood the wrong way. Not to mention he was Beta of the Havren and would it probably would look bad on him for going unaware of the on goings with the Alphess.

Normally she was a fairly decent judge of character and could read others as though they were wide-open books. But with Draziar, it was different. She had been trying to decipher him for some time and was slowly growing agitated with her failure. The beta was fairly quiet and struck her as slightly reserved. He wasn’t loud and didn’t strive to make his presence known. He commanded the attention of those around him with simple glances and subtle postures. Emma was similar in that way and preferred to direct others with her eyes and positioning rather than her voice. She didn’t like to bark orders and could never respect a leader who did. A real leader captivated her subjects and seldom had to fight for their attention. The girl listened as the young man chuckled quietly and then began to explain how he wound up near the falls. She nodded in understanding as he told her of his exercise and then his sudden urge to leap into the cold rushing water and then responded, “I see. The water is a little hard to resist isn’t it? Are you regretting it now? The spring has finally settled in, but there is still a chill in the air.” She noticed her beta study her with an expression of mild curiosity on his face. After a few seconds had passed, his gaze grew more concerned than curious and she knew that it wouldn’t be long before she would be forced to explain herself. Of course she was not obligated or expected to answer to anyone, but her beta (and the rest of her pack as well) deserved to know what had happened. For all they knew, members of a nearby pack could have attacked her. The last thing Emma needed was for her pack to be concerned or paranoid about things that didn’t warrant their worries. She waited for the young man to pose his question, knowing that he would bring it up within the next few moments. She didn’t have to wait long, for Draziar quickly piped up. At first his question was indirect and she replied without hesitation, “it’s been alright. I’m just trying to get everyone settled in, and trying to get to know the lands and nearby packs as much as I can.” True to form, she refrained from speaking of her injury until Draziar could no longer contain his concern and curiosity. Though she had known the question would come, she wasn’t adequately prepared to give him the prefect response. Sighing quietly after he was through speaking, she nodded and answered, “just a little bit. It isn’t so bad. I was patrolling the outskirts of the land a few days ago and was attacked by a small group of wild cats. It was really strange because normally they fear humans and tend to stay as far from us as they can. I don’t know if they were sick or defending their young. But one of them bit me here on the shoulder. I should have seen a doctor I guess, but I didn’t. I thought I could mend it on my own.” She peered down at her shoulder, the wound concealed by her loose, thin shirt. But though she couldn’t see it, she could most certainly feel it. With a frown on her face she continued, “it’ll get better I’m sure. It just needs more time to heal.” She winced as she crossed her arms one over the other, trying to appear confident and sure of herself. Though she wouldn’t admit it to Draziar, she was a little bit concerned about the state of the wound. The area around it was hot and swollen and whenever she attempted to the change the bandages that were wound around it, it began to bleed again. For whatever reason, it wouldn’t scab, and it made Emma wonder if the wound was too deep to be mended with cloth alone. But as she often did, she cast aside the idea of tending her wound and decided she would rather focus her attention on something else entirely. When Draziar turned to face a sound that came from the water nearby, Emma watched him as he moved. Though the fish had momentarily caught her attention, she was far more interested in her beta. But as usual, he was quiet and thoughtful and didn’t seem particularly interested in Emma or his surroundings. She didn’t take offense to it of course, but she did wonder if he was simply a very goal oriented individual. Perhaps he didn’t see the point in conducting idle conversations and preferred to get straight to the point and be done with it. Slowly, she uncrossed her arms and allowed her right to lie limply against her side while she held the other tightly against her stomach. Wordlessly she took a few steps forward then turned to Draziar, “I think I’ll go down and wade in the water for a minute.” She doubted he would come along with her, but she felt it was necessary to let him know what she was doing in case he wanted to follow suit. Carefully, she weaved her way down the slope, careful to place her feet where there were no jagged rocks or sharp sticks protruding from the side of the incline. When she finally reached the bottom, she walked toward the calm, shallow part of the pool and dipped her feet into the chilly blue water. Fortunately she was wearing a pair of black sweat shorts and had plenty of room to get wet. But the girl didn’t move any further inward and remained at the edge of the water, wading up to her shins.
